John T. Mascaro

1928-2009

“Daddy”

 

John Mascaro passed away peacefully June 4, 2009 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born May 2, 1928 in Lark, UT to Joe and Mary Marosco DeLuca Mascaro. He grew up on the family ranch in Rose Canyon with his 10 brothers and sisters where he helped with the family goat and rodeo business. Johnny learned how to work hard from his parents.

He served 2 years in the Army as a Sergeant in the 14th Infantry Calvary division in the Korean War. He was top marksman and received a purple heart. He married Mary Nelson Sept. 4, 1954 in Jackson Hole, WY. Together they had 2 daughters. Johnny was a champion bull and saddle bronc rider. He and his brother Jim bought the rodeo business from their father, they ran the Circle J Rodeo Co for over 40 years and retired in 2008. He was foreman for Staker Asphalt Co. His love for animals included his 2 Schipperke dogs. John was loved by everyone he met.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Johann Perky Woolf (John) and Debra Mascaro-Nokes (LaMond) 2 grandchildren Jaidie Corona and Brandon Corona (Angela) his brother Tony Mascaro, sisters Rachel Kankelborg and Eva Panunzio (Shanz). Preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 50 yrs; his sisters Rosie DeLuca Leonelli and Rose Mascaro Barnes his brothers Pete, Frank and Sam DeLuca, Joe Jr. and Jim Mascaro.

Services will be held June 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. Riverton where friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday 1 hour prior. Interment Herriman Cemetery. Family would like to give thanks to Superior Home Health Care for all their support. In lieu of flowers donate to No More Homeless Pets in Utah or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
